Rick Pitino and the Louisville basketball team have finalized travel arrangements and will visit the White House on July, 23rd at 1:30 PM. President Barack Obama reached out to Pitino on April, 10th to congratulate him on winning the national championship.
According to a White House press release, the President also congratulated Coach Pitino on his recent induction into the Basketball Hall of Fame. He also mentioned how proud he and his wife were of Kevin Ware and the way he handled his injury with grace. The First Lady is one of the many celebrities that reached out to Ware during Louisville’s championship run.
Many were beginning to wonder if the White House visit was actually going to happen since it’s been such a long time since the championship game. However, from what I understand, UofL wanted to make sure each member of the 2013 team would be able to travel to the nation’s capital for the visit.
Gorgui Dieng and Peyton Siva have had NBA obligations for the past month while Montrezl Harrell and Luke Hancock have been abroad playing for Team USA.
