It’s been a big week in recruiting for both the football and basketball programs at the University of Louisville. Earlier this week Charlie Strong landed two big time commitments and yesterday Rick Pitino landed his highest rated recruit in five years. That trend continued on Thursday morning as Charlie Strong landed his 17th commitment from the 2014 class.
Just two days after taking an unofficial visit, Rashawn Shaw, a 6-foot-2, 228-pound, defense end from Fort Pierce, FL., has given Charlie Strong a verbal pledge. Shaw is rated as a three-star prospect by Rivals and is considered to be one of the top 20 defensive ends in the country. He chose Louisville over Arkansas, Cincinnati, Georgia Tech, Illinois, Indiana, LSU, Michigan State, Iowa State, Mississippi State, Rutgers, South Florida, Tennessee, and West Virginia, among others.
On his visit to Louisville on Tuesday, Shaw was accompanied by his high school teammate, Sharieff Rhaheed, a four-star defensive end/outside linebacker. Rhaheed is currently committed to LSU, but many recruiting analysts are speculating that he will flip his commitment to Louisville at any moment.
