The Louisville Basketball Team Will Attend The ESPYs

Our friend Mike Rutherford of CardChronicle.com is reporting that the Louisville basketball team will attend ESPN’s 2013 ESPY Awards on July 17 at the Nokia Theatre in Los Angeles.

The official list of nominees will not be released until Tuesday, but it sounds like the Louisville men’s basketball team will be nominated for at least one category.

I wouldn’t be surprised if Rick Pitino is personally nominated for coach of the year. Not just because his team won the national championship, but he also became the first coach in the history of the sport to win multiple championships with different programs.

I think it would be a long shot, but Kevin Ware could possibly be nominated for the Arthur Ashe Courage Award. The women’s basketball team’s win over Baylor in the NCAA tournament could be nominated for Upset of the Year.

We’ll find out for sure on Tuesday.

  1. Another honor. I don’t care for ESPN anymore, but, anything or anybody who showcases the Cards works for me.

It will interesting how we are nominated; your list could be prescient.

ps- Good work referencing your source; that should quiet those who have been going negative on your similar posts. (Hey, the same news gets reported in multiple places because that is the nature of reporting).

  8. GOLF Moore wins in a playoff Ryan Moore birdied the first hole of a playoff with Gary Woodland this morning to win the CIMB Classic after an overnight wait caused by thunderstorms in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. Moore made a 5 foot birdie putt on the par 5 18th hole after Woodland was short with his chip from just off the green. Woodland and Moore finished regulation at 14 under 274 on Sunday with darkness descending on the Kuala Lumpur Golf and Country Club, forcing the playoff to be postponed until Monday morning. The players endured about 3 hours of delays Sunday. The tournament was an official PGA Tour event for the first time. Moore received a twoyear PGA Tour exemption and a spot in the Masters. Bryce Molder (Conway) shot and even par 72, finished in a tie for 14th place and earned $129,500. David Lingmerth (Arkansas Razorbacks) finished in a tie for 64th after a 1 under 71 to earn $14,630.

  10. How can Gosden’s peers adequately reciprocate this service? For a start, they can salute his consummate handling of Nathaniel. He had the nerve and judgement not only to sit out the Derby, but also to recommend that the colt’s owner, Lady Rothschild, pay no less than 75,000 to supplement her late developer to the field which audacious plan was first revealed in these pages, 12 days ago.
