The wait is over. Former Oklahoma State quarterback Wes Lunt has finally made a decision on which school he’ll resume his career with. Lunt revealed earlier this afternoon that he will transfer to Illinois, choosing the Fighting Illini over Louisville.
Lunt was reportedly going to announce his decision at the end of May, but ended up needing more time. Louisville and Illinois were the only two schools he had been considering for the past few weeks.
The Rochester, IL., native took a visit to Louisville on May 28-29 and according to all accounts, that visit went very well. Some went as far as saying that Lunt may commit once arriving back home. Once he left Louisville, Lunt made a second visit to Illinois. It was thought that Lunt may have made his mind up while on the visit to Louisville and wanted to see Illinois one more time to see if they could change his mind. Apparently they did.
Landing Lunt would have been nice for Louisville, especially considering that Teddy Bridgewater will likely head to the NFL following the 2013 season. However, I think Louisville will be just fine at the quarterback position in the future. Kyle Bolin and Will Gardner should fit nicely with Shawn Watson’s offense. Louisville also has a verbal commitment from Reggie Bonnafon, a dual threat quarterback from the 2014 class.
