Peyton Siva Underestimated Heading Into The Draft

Former Louisville point guard Peyton Siva is one of 70 NBA hopefuls that were invited to the 2013 NBA Draft Combine in Chicago, IL., on May 16th and 17th. Getting invited to the combine doesn’t mean much of anything, but this will certainly give the Seattle native and opportunity to improve his draft stock.

Since the season ended he’s been in Las Vegas training for the draft at the Impact Basketball Academy. Despite winning a national championship and going to back-to-back Final Fours, along with being only the second player to ever win the Big East Tournament MVP more than once, Siva’s draft stock isn’t very high.

ESPN’s Chad Ford lists Siva as the 15th best point guard in the draft. I’m probably a little biased, but it’s hard for me to believe that some of the guys that Ford has listed ahead of Siva are really better NBA prospects.

Ford’s Top 15 PG’s

1.)Trey Burke, Michigan
2.)Michael Carter-Williams, Syracuse
3.)Shane Larkin, Miami
4.)Dennis Shroeder, Germany
5.)Pierre Jackson, Baylor
6.)Isaiah Cannon, Murray State
7.)Ricky Ledo, Providence
8.)Erick Green, Virginia Tech
9.)Myck Kabongo, Texas
10.)Phil Pressey, Missouri
11.)B.J. Young, Arkansas
12.)Lorenzo Brown, N.C. State
13.)Ray McCallum, Detroit
14.)Nate Wolters, South Dakota St.
15.)Peyton Siva, Louisville

Like I said, I’m biased, but I’d take Peyton Siva over more than half of these guys. Hopefully an impressive combine will improve his draft stock. I wouldn’t be surprised to see a team take a chance on him late in the second round.

  1. I just wish he had a more consistent jump shot. I think that’s the biggest thing holding him back.

  2. Tired of hearing about his jump shot he hits them when it counts plus Siva got to the rim at will and his speed with the ball is second to none and to think this but hole Chad Ford has him 15th guard is a joke back to back final fours and a championship this guy dunked on Trey Burke in the championship game lol, this is why the NBA lacks the star power it used to have too much drafting on what a player might do instead of what they can do!

  3. Ameen to that fabb
