Rick Pitino One Of Twelve Finalists For Naismith Hall of Fame

Rick Pitino Birthday

Rick Pitino is one of twelve finalists for the 2013 Naismith Basketball Hall of Fame. The finalists were announced earlier today in Houston at the NBA All Star weekend. Pitino was a finalist in last year’s class as well, but did was not elected.  Below is a list of the players and coaches that make up this year’s twelve finalists.

Players:
–Maurice Cheeks
–Tim Hardaway
–Spencer Haywood
–Bernard King
–Gary Payton
–Mitch Richmond

Coaches:
–Tom Heinsohn
–Guy Lewis
–Rick Pitino
–Jerry Tarkanian

The 2013 class will be announced on Monday, April 8 at a press conference in Atlanta prior to the NCAA’ national championship game. Pitino will need 18 of 24 votes from the Honors Committee to be elected into the Naismith Hall of Fame.
