kareem richardsonJeff Goodman of CBS Sports reports that sources have informed him that UMKC head coach Matt Brown is expected to be let go at the end of the season and Louisville assistant Kareem Richardson could be “in the mix.”

Richardson is in his first year as an assistant at Louisville. He was the top assistant at UMKC during the 2007-08 season. After one year at UMKC, Richardson went on to spend three seasons at Drake and one season with Xavier, before joining the Louisville staff.

He has a great reputation as a recruiter and had interviewed at Louisville following the 2009-2010 season, but Rick Pitino decided to hire Tim Fuller instead.

When Tim Fuller and Steve Masiello left for other jobs following the 2010-11 season, Pitino said that he would require his assistants to sign two year contracts. Meaning they would have to stay at least two years before being able to leave without having to pay some type of buyout. To my knowledge, the exact details of those contracts have not been released.
