Lamar Robbins, a 6-foot-3, 190-pound cornerback from Miami, Florida verbally committed to South Florida on Sunday afternoon. He chose USF over Louisville and Oklahoma.
Robins had taken an official visit to Louisville the weekend before, but decided to go with South Florida, calling Willie Taggart’s program a perfect fit for him. Despite being rejected by Robbins, the Louisville coaching staff hasn’t quit pursuing the 3-star prospect.
Charlie Strong stopped in to see Robbins yesterday in Miami for one last attempt to lure him to Louisville. Robbins seems pretty firm on his commit to USF, but I wouldn’t count Charlie Strong out just yet. As I’ve mentioned numerous times throughout the week, there are always some unexpected surprised on national signing day.
