One of three horses that Rick Pitino named after his players over the summer will make its debut this weekend. Gorgui, the colt named after our beloved Gorgui Dieng will run on Sunday at Gulfstream Park.

Gorgui is the son of Bellamy Road, who raced in the 2005 Kentucky Derby and is trained by world renowned trainer, Nick Zito. Gorgui will run in the seventh race of the day on Sunday at Gulfstream Park. The race is a Seven furlong test on dirt with nine horses. Gorgui drew the far outside post and will be ridden by jockey Jose Lezcano.

Hopefully Gorgui will have better luck than the other two colts that Pitino named after his players. Russdiculous didn’t have a good running last week at Golden Gate and Siva finished in last place earlier this month at Gulfstream park.
