hatcher 6Jason Hatcher’s recruitment has taken an interesting turn in the past few hours. The 6-foot-2 225-pound defensive end from Trinity High School here in Louisville verbally committed to USC in August. He decommitted from the school on Tuesday night, via his Twitter account.

The decision to reopen his recruitment didn’t sit too well with the USC coaching staff.  Ed Orgeron, the defensive coordinator and recruiting coordinator for the Trojan program flew across the country this evening for an in-home visit with Hatcher.

Hatcher was originally expected to take an official visit to Florida this weekend and Louisville next weekend before signing day on Feb. 6th. It was reported earlier tonight that Hatcher would not visit Florida and take his visit to Louisville this weekend instead of next. However, Steve Jones of the Courier-Journal is now reporting that Hatcher will not take any visits this weekend. His mother tells Jones that it is still possible for her son to visit Louisville next weekend, but nothing is set in stone. Hatcher will not announce his decision until national signing day on February 6.

Confused yet?

I still feel pretty good about Louisville’s chances with Hatcher, but when it comes to 17-year-old kids making a decision, you honestly never know what to expect.

  1. I feel like USC is pressuring him very hard and they’re a little freaked out. in all honesty he will succeed very well at louisville. USC is peer pressuring him though and I feel like that part of the business is wrong. It’s that young mans decision.

  2. You are doing a very good job with recruiting, keep up the good work!
