Edgar Sosa Earns Another Shot At Professional Basketball

Sosa 1

Former Louisville point guard Edgar Sosa is finally healthy and will continue his professional career. Sosa signed a contract last week with Blancos De Rueda Valladolid of Spain’s top level professional league.

Sosa suffered a broken foot in July while competing with the Dominican Republic national team in a scrimmage against Team USA. That injury occurred just nine months after a separate injury.

In September of 2011, Sosa suffered a gruesome injury, breaking both bones in his lower right leg, while playing for the Dominican Republic national team in Argentina. Sosa made a miraculous recovery and was back on the court in nine months only to suffer another setback in his professional career.

Sosa passed a physical and other medical tests last week, which led to him signing with Blancos De Rueda Valladolid.  His contract is for one month with the possibility of being kept on until the end of the regular season.

Prior to suffering his first injury, Sosa was close to receiving a contract offer from multiple NBA teams. In his first season as a professional, Sosa played for Angelico Biella in Italy where he averaged 14 points and 4.5 assists per game. He was named an All Star in Italy’s top professional league as rookie.

Sosa has worked his tail off to get back to 100% over the past few months. Congrats to him for getting another chance. His work ethic is second to none.
