Charlie Strong and company apparently are not shying away from going after some of the top talent in the country.
According to Chad Simmons of Fox Sports/Scout, Louisville has offered a scholarship to 2014 5-Star Defensive End Lorenzo Carter. According to some recruiting services Lorenzo is the top ranked defensive end in the country and the top ranked of any position in the state of Georgia. At 6′-6″ and 235lbs (similar size to Louisville’s Deiontrez Mount) he is already physically college-ready. Carter has received scholarship offers from just about every major program. To just name a handful, Alabama, Florida, Notre Dame, Ohio State, Florida State, Georgia and many others
For the 2012 season Carter amassed 136 tackles, 45 tackles for loss and 18 sacks as a junior at Norcross High School in Norcross Georgia. Louisville has maintained a steady pipeline in the state of Georgia and currently has 10 from the Peach State on its roster. The Cards are also taking a hard look at a classmate of Carter’s in Outside Linebacker Kevin Mouhon who currently has offers from Florida State, Ohio State, Nebraska, Tennessee and others.

The one thing we can certainly offer Carter is the chance to play right away and be the man on the first Louisville team to win the ACC and make it to the National Championship.
