Former Louisville big man Samardo Samuels was waived by the Cleveland Cavaliers over the weekend. Samuels is in his third season with the Cavs after signing as an undrafted free agent in 2010.
In three seasons in the NBA, Samuels has averaged 5.9 points and 3.4 rebounds. This was expected to be a breakout year for the Jamaican native after losing weight and getting in much better shape in the off season.
Samuels has played in only 18 games this year, averaging of 3.2 points and 1.6 rebounds.
Samuels was arguably the best undrafted rookie in the NBA during the 2010-11 season, but had a setback in 2011-12. Following the NBA lockout he showed up to training camp overweight and out of shape.
Sam Amico of FoxSports.com reports that the Brooklyn Nets and the Oklahoma City Thunder are among the teams that are interested in signing Samuels.

No shocker here! I didn’t think he was ready when he went pro.
