Gorgui slingLouisville junior center Gorgui Dieng is expected to get an x-ray this afternoon on his injured left wrist. Dieng’s last appointment with the doctors at the Kleinert & Kutz hand care center was last Monday.

When Rick Pitino spoke to the media last week he said Dieng’s appointment didn’t go as well as he had hoped, but he also didn’t rule him out for the game against Kentucky on Dec. 29th.

Initially, Dieng was expected to miss 4-to-6 weeks after breaking the scaphoid bone in his left wrist against Missouri in Battle 4 Atlantis. Pitino had hoped to have Dieng back for the WKU game this past Saturday, but unfortunately, Diegn wasn’t quite ready just yet.

Coach Pitino has been very clear about not wanting the match-up with Kentucky to be Dieng’s first game back; however I imagine if he’s cleared by the doctor, he’ll play on Saturday.
