It didn’t take long for a de-commitment to emerge after University of South Florida Head Coach Skip Holtz was fired on Sunday. Hours after the news broke, Wide Receiver Jeff Badet announced that he was rescinding his commitment.
As with much of the talent out of south Florida, Badet had a boatload of speed and very tricky footwork. At 5′-11″ 170lbs, Jeff is a tad undersized but does a good job of overcoming that lack of size with athleticism.
Prior to jumping on board with The Bulls, Badet appeared to be down to USF, Boston College and Louisville. In early July the Cards had led the pack for the 3-star WR out of Orlando Florida. After committing to USF in early August, things didn’t necessarily go smooth for Badet throughout the recruiting process. Coming as a surprise to Badet in October The Bulls received a commitment from WR Zach Benjamin after many thought they were done recruiting the WR position.
In an interview Badet told the Orlando Sentinel, “It’s all right, I just need to talk to the coaches and let them know I’m really about to keep my options open and take these visits and see what’s up with the other schools…I might end up taking a visit to Ole Miss and I’m definitely taking that Louisville visit and that’s just two schools right now, so that’s basically where it’s at right now. I’m with USF. … I’m still committed to USF.”
After de-committing it appears that Jeff Badet is back on track with Louisville and is also said to be considering UCF, FIU, UK and Iowa State. It will be interesting to see if things between Badet and Brian Jean-Mary of the Louisville coaching staff heat back up.
