With the 2012-13 NBA season tipping off in just eight days, former Louisville star Terrence Williams is without a team. He signed a free agent contact with the Detroit Pistons prior to training camp, but was waived earlier today along with former Syracuse star Johnny Flynn. Williams was a lottery pick in the 2009 NBA Draft after the New Jersey Nets drafted him with the 11th overall pick. Three years later T-Will has found himself unemployed.

I’ve said it time and time again; I think Williams has the talent to be an All Star in the NBA.  It’s unfortunate to see his professional career play out like it has, however Williams has nobody to blame but himself. He has been benched by every coach he’s played for since entering the league. Williams was the first player to ever be sent to the developmental league for disciplinary reasons.

T-Will’s career in professional basketball isn’t over, but I’d say it’s a long shot that he lands with an NBA team anytime soon. I wouldn’t be surprised to see him spend a couple of seasons playing overseas. There’s nothing wrong with playing professionally in Europe, but it’s just a shame to see someone as talented as Williams not reach their full potential.
