Former Cardinal guard Chris Smith has reportedly suffered a knee injury that will cause him to miss the next 3-6 months. Chris suffered this injury in practice with the New York Knicks as they are currently in preseason play. He will have left patella tendon surgery later this month.
This is tough news for Chris, considering his chances of making the Knicks final roster appeared greater than we initially expected. Second year Knick guard Iman Shumphert is currently recovering from a torn ACL. With Shumphert out, Smith was expected to get a chance to prove himself in New York’s preseason games.
UPDATE: Chris Smith tells Adam Zagoria of ZagsBlog.com that he may have initially sustained his knee injury at Louisville, but it was never diagnosed as needing surgery. YIKES!
