As expected, the point-spread for the Louisville – Pittsburgh game on Saturday has quickly jumped. Louisville opened up as just a 1 ½ point favorite, but in less than 24 hours, BetOnline.ag, 5dimes.eu and JustBet.cx now has Louisville up to a 3 ½ point favorite.

Although I think this is much more accurate than the opening line, I still expected the Cards to be a bigger favorite. Not to sound over-confident, as I think Pitt has a lot more talent than their record indicates, but when you look at what both teams have done thus far in 2012, I expected Louisville to open up as at least a 5 ½ point favorite.

The fact that Pitt has a win over a “decent” Virginia Tech team and Louisville didn’t win as convincingly as expected against FIU and Southern Miss is likely the reason for the current spread.
