With Linebacker Daniel Brown out with a knee injury and the injury status of true freshman James Burgess Jr. up in the air for Saturdays contest against the Pitt Panthers things could be shaping up for another true freshman to make an impact.

After enrolling early and getting a head start within the Louisville football program Keith Brown began drawing much praise from the coaching staff in Spring and Fall Camp. Many even expected the four star backer out of Miami to get the starting nod with Daniel Brown and Preston Brown to complete the linebacking corp. That starting spot was eventually handed to former walk-on George Durant. At that point some of the discussion of the true freshman seemed to cease. After strapping on his helmet against UK and FIU, the discussion was still sparse after recording only two tackles in the games combined.

Against Southern Miss something appeared to have changed. Brown was appeared to be all over the field and seemed to be in almost every defensive play that Saturday night finishing with a team high nine tackles. Something was different. Was it the opportunity? Was Keith a little more hungry that day? It’s hard to say without being in his skin, but whatever it was I liked it.

With the unfortunate injury circumstances within the linebackers this could be the opportunity for Keith Brown to get out on a (hopefully) dry field and show that he can produce in back to back games. Coming Out Party?  I hope so.
