Shortly after Charlie Strong’s interview yesterday afternoon on the Jim Rome radio show, CBS Sports College Football Insider Jeremy Fowler caught up with Louisville athletic director Tom Jurich to get his thoughts about his head coach being mentioned as a possible candidate for other jobs.
“I will match anybody’s salary,” Jurich tells CBSSports.com. “I will match anybody in college. I will be supportive of whoever’s here. Do they want to be here? When someone is being talked about, that’s a compliment to our program. I’ve had it where you have coaches, and they’re not talked about.”
If you remember last year, Louisville extended Strong’s contract for seven years and upped his salary from $1.6 to $2.3 million. Strong is currently one of the top 25 highest paid coaches in the country. His retention bonuses will increase his overall salary to around $12.6 million in the next four years.
