Former Louisville receiver Deion Branch was released by the New England Patriots on August 31, 2012 during final cuts.

Nearly three weeks later, New England has decided to resign the former Super Bowl MVP. The Patriots are thin at the receiver position after recently cutting Greg Salas and losing tight end Aaron Hernandez to an injury.

Last year Branch started 15 games for the Patriots and caught 51 passes for 702 yards and five touchdowns. In his nine years in the NFL, Branch has 502 receptions for 6,499 yards and 39 touchdowns.

Welcome back, Mr. Branch.
