As we continue to hand out 1st Quarter grades for the University of Louisville football program, let’s take a look at the Cardinal wide receivers.

Wide Receiver First Quarter Grade = A

Wide receiver was thought to be one of the deeper positions for Louisville heading into the 2012 season. With three games in the book, the Cardinal wide-outs have lived up to the hype. Even with last year’s leading receiver Michaelee Harris out for the season, the Louisville receiving group has been solid from top to bottom.

Junior Damian Copeland and senior Andrell Smith look to much improved from last year. Newcomer Charles Gaines has been as good as advertised. Although he’s only played in two of the three games this season, Gaines leads the team 151 total receiving yards. He is averaging an impressive 18 yards per reception on 8 catches. Sophomores Eli Rogers and DaVante Parker have been solid as well.

The competition is only going to get tougher, but so far so good for the Louisville receivers.
