The majority of the recent recruiting news has come from the basketball side. Although it’s a very crucial period in the hoops recruiting process, Charlie Strong and his staff are also still putting in a lot of work. Although the Cards have missed out on a couple of the local Trinity High School recruits, the staff isn’t giving up on keeping these guys close to home. Here is an update on the four players from Trinity that are being recruited by Louisville.
James Quick, 6-foot-1 WR c/o 2013: Quick is the highest rated player in the state of Kentucky from the 2013 class. Charlie Strong and his staff have made Quick a top priority since day one. Although a couple of his teammates have verbally committed elsewhere, Quick, a 5-star prospect still have Louisville high on his list. He is also considering Ohio State, Oregon, Kentucky and Cincinnati. He will soon take visits to Cincinnati and Ohio State for some of their games. Quick was an unofficial visit for Louisville’s season opener against Kentucky. I’m not sure if Louisville is the current leader, but I think they are still in good shape with Quick.
Jason Hatcher, 6-foot-2 DE c/o 2013: Hatcher decided to take his talents to the West Coast by verbally committing to Southern California a couple of months ago. It’s going to take quite a bit of work from Charlie Strong and his staff to lure Hatcher away from USC, but they aren’t going to stop trying. I know Clint Hurtt is still doing everything he can to keep Hatcher in Louisville. Hatcher is expected to visit Louisville unofficially tomorrow afternoon for the North Carolina game.
Ryan White, 5-foot-9 DB c/o 2013: White had been committed to Louisville for nearly a year, before switching his pledge to the Vanderbilt Commodores at the end of August. Just my opinion, but I think White may be gone for good. I know he was listed as an unofficial visitor for Louisville’s season opener, but at this point I’m not sure how much the Cardinal staff is still pursuing him.
Reggie Bonnafon, 6-foot-1 QB-WR c/o 2014: Bonnafon plays mostly at the wide receiver position for Trinity, but is projected as a quarterback at the next level. He picked up a scholarship offer from the Cards over the summer. Bonnafon also has a scholarship offer from Illinois. He has been an unofficial visitor for Louisville’s first two games in 2012. He’ll be one to keep an eye on.
