Brett McMurphy of ESPN is reporting that Notre Dame will leave the Big East and join the ACC as a full member with the exception of football; however the Irish will play five games annually against ACC football opponents.
Notre Dame will remain in the Big East for the next two seasons in all other sports, due to the league’s 27 month policy, but the Irish have the opportunity to negotiate an earlier exit. Syracuse and Pittsburgh are currently in their last season as Big East members and will join the ACC next year.
I’m not sure exactly how this will affect Louisville. It doesn’t look like the Big 12 will be expanding any time soon, but Notre Dame was considered to be a top candidate for the league if they did expand. You’ve got to think if the league does add one team at some point in the future, Louisville is now at the top of their list.
I dislike Notre Dame as much as the next guy, but you can’t exactly blame them for this decision. I think we all wish we were in their situation.

That’s a big loss , stuff like this could make Charlie strong want to leave . I think we should just go to the SEC. That comes with the best coaches and best recruits .

The big east is a lame duck after this year. Already down losing WVU. If UofL doesn’t get out it will be the worst mistake in the history of athletics. An u can kiss Charlie strong goodbye.

LaMarr you can’t just go to what every conference you want or we would have got out of the Big East a long time ago. The SEC would never take UL because they have UK and the entire state of Kentucky in their TV market. No point in adding us.
