Louisville’s week two opponent, Missouri State, formally known as Southwest Missouri State University is coming off a 51-9 loss to #22 Kansas State. The Bears are a member of the Missouri Valley conference and finished with a 2-9 record in 2011. Here is little info on Missouri State University.

–Located in Springfield, Missouri

–Nickname throughout the Show Me State is “Mo-State.”

-State’s second largest university, with an official enrollment of 19,715 in Spring 2012.

–Missouri State joined the Missouri Valley Conference in 1985, leaving the Summit League.

-The Bears haven’t won a conference championship in football since 1990.

-Since 1985, members of the Missouri Valley Football Conference have defeated 30 Division I FBS programs in football, including a 31-24 win at UNLV by the 1990 Bears under head coach Jesse Branch.

–”The Scotsman” was officially adopted as the university’s fight song in the 1960s. The Fight Song is sung after every home football touchdown.
