Charlie Strong confirmed this morning at the weekly Big East coaches teleconference that Clemson transfer Bryce McNeal is no longer with the Louisville program. McNeal enrolled at Louisville in early August after being denied admission into Connecticut, where he initially planned to transfer.

Strong didn’t elaborate on why McNeal decided to leave Louisville, but there has been some speculation that he wasn’t giving “Charlie Strong effort” in practice.

Even with Michalee Harris being out for the season, I don’t see McNeal’s departure being a big blow to the wide receiver position. McNeal had quite a few guys ahead of him on the depth chart and was obviously having some trouble doing that. His experience would have been valuable, but Louisville is still loaded at wide receiver.

  1. Maybe he’ll go to Puckay. They could use him.

  2. He’s already shown he is not capable of committing to the strength of a program — play at Clemson? No, that was too hard. Play at Louisville? No way! That is even harder! Maybe a Division II school will be the right place. @Anonymous — maybe you’re right; he could be a star at UK.
