Charlie Strong and the Louisville Cardinal football team conducted their first major scrimmage on Saturday morning at Papa John’s Cardinal stadium. The team went through about 100 plays focusing mainly on the running attack and special team situations. Here is an excerpt from the recap from UofLSports.com
Teddy Bridgewater had the best day of the quarterbacks, missing on just four throws during the scrimmage. Will Stein was also very effective, moving the second unit to a number of scores.
The Cardinals, behind an experienced offensive line, were able to run the football, and recorded a few long drives and long touchdown runs during the course of the scrimmage. All six of the running backs (Dominique Brown, Jeremy Wright, Senorise Perry, Corvin Lamb, Zed Evans and Brandon Radcliff) received equal carries this morning and were all effective.
One notable stat was the offense didn’t turn the ball over during the scrimmage. On defense, Roy Philon and Brandon Dunn stood out on the defensive line, and linebacker James Burgess had a big hit.
