It became official yesterday afternoon that former Auburn quarterback Zeke Pike would transfer to Louisville. At today’s football media day Coach Strong was asked about the addition of Pike to the Cardinal program.
“I don’t know so much about what happened at Auburn,” Strong said. When you want to come in and be a part of this program, I’m gonna’ sit down with you and tell you how this program is run. He (Pike) is accepting and willing, I sat down with him and his parents and told them about what the focus is of this program and what we’re trying to accomplish.”
“Zeke Pike will be a part of this program, but as far as putting him at a position, we have not said exactly what position he is going to play, but he will be a part of this program, says Strong.”
It makes sense that Pike would play tight end considering the current quarterback situation for Louisville, but it makes even more sense to wait a while before making a decision. Pike won’t be eligible to play until 2013, so there is still quite a bit of time for the staff to see where he will fit best.
Much more from media day coming up shortly.
