Justin Coleman was at one time thought to be the prized recruit for Rick Pitino in the 2010 class. The 6-foot-5 225-pound small forward from Huntington, West Virginia committed and signed with Louisville, but never ended up on campus due to academic issues. He was a teammate of Gorgui Dieng at Huntington Prep. It’s crazy to think that at one time, Coleman was more of a priority for Louisville than Dieng.
Coleman ended up enrolling at Marshall. He sat out during the 2010-11 season in order to get his academics together. Coleman played in 17 games last season for Marshall averaging 5.5 points and 2.5 rebounds, before being dismissed from the team. Prior to being dismissed, Coleman was suspended for sending text messages on his cell phone during halftime of a game.
He will now reportedly enroll at Midland Junior College in Texas. Coleman not qualifying was initially thought to be a huge deal for the Louisville program. Two years later, Louisville is the preseason number one team and Coleman is heading to a junior college. Isn’t strange how things work out?

It’s pretty awesome how it DID work out… Dieng seems to be such a stand-up guy, honorable & hard-working. He’s been a great addition to Rick’s roster. I don’t think Coleman would’ve fallen so easily into the Pitino system.

He sounds very immature, lets’ wish him well.
Also, since Coach Pitino only discovered Dieng as a result of watching Coleman, we need to keep a warm spot for Justin due to the inadvertent service he performed for the Cards.
