AuburnUndercover.com is reporting that former Auburn quarterback Zeke Pike will transfer to Louisville.
Pike, a Fort Mitchell, KY., native and Dixie Heights High School graduate was one of the top rated quarterback prospects in the 2011 class. The 6-foot-5 225-pound Pike will reportedly play tight end at Louisville.
Pike enrolled at Auburn in January and participated in the Tigers’ spring practice. He was sent home during the summer after he was arrested for public intoxication. Coach Gene Chizik said this week that he informed Pike last week he could not return to Auburn. Chizik said Wednesday that Pike would take steps to transfer.
I honestly don’t know what to make of this, but one thing I do know is that Pike will have to straighten up his act, or he won’t last very long with Charlie Strong. It makes sense that Pike will be a tight end, considering Louisville’s future at the quarterback position seems to be pretty set. Adding an elite level athlete like Pike is huge. Let’s hope this works out and becomes official very soon.
