Add Chicago native Kyle Davis to the list of point guards in the 2013 class to receive interest from the Louisville coaching staff. According to Joey Natale of Coast2CoastHoops.com, a member of the Louisville coaching staff recently reached out to Davis.
Kevin Keatts and Wyking Jones were in attendance on Sunday afternoon at the Peach Jam while Davis put on a show for the Mac Irvin Fire. Scout.com ranks the 6-foot prospect as the 105th best player in the 2013 class.
Davis isn’t exactly a true point guard, which actually makes him more of a fit for Rick Pitino. If you look at some of the guys Pitino has recruited in his tenure at Louisville, he obviously has a thing for scoring point guards.
Davis has been mentioned as one of the fastest players in the entire 2013 class. Although he is slightly undersized, Davis makes up for it with a consistent long range jump shot. He is also a gifted athlete. Davis currently has scholarship offers from Northwestern, Nebraska and Chicago State. His stellar player on the AAU circuit in the last few months has attracted interest from USC, UNLV, Oklahoma, Marquette, LSU, DePaul, Xavier and most recently Louisville and Butler.
There is already somewhat of a connection between Davis and Louisville. Cardinal sophomore guard Wayne Blackshear also played for the Mac Irvin Fire AAU club and attended Morgan Park High School, where Davis is entering his senior season. The two were teammates in 2010-11.
