Cardinal recruit and Louisville native Jason Hatcher is set to announce his college decision on Friday July 27th.at the Hyatt Regency in downtown Louisville.
Multiple sources are reporting that Louisville will not be the school that Hatcher commits to. The 6-foot-3 230-pound defensive end will reportedly choose between USC and Tennessee. The Trojans appear to be the favorite at this point. Lane Kiffin has a limited number of scholarships, which means Hatcher may be looking to commit right away to lock on his spot with the Trojan’s 2013 class.
Strange things happen when it comes to recruiting. High school kids change their minds thousands of times a day. However, unless Hatcher has a change of heart, the four-star prospect will not be in a Louisville uniform.
Hatcher is rated as the third best defensive end in the 2013 class by Scout.com. It’s unclear where things went wrong with Louisville and Hatcher, but this one hurts. Outside of James Quick, Hatcher was likely Louisville’s top target in the 2013 class.
When you have players as talented as Quick and Hatcher in your backyard, it’s crucial to keep them at home. I can’t help but wonder if the conference affiliation had anything to do with Hatcher’s decision.
