Rick Pitino and his staff have made it pretty clear that they are looking to add at least two front-court players in the 2013 class. Joel Embid, a 7-foot-1 center from Montverde Academy in Florida caught the attention of the Louisville staff over the weekend at the Adidas Invitational in Indianapolis. Embid is considered to be one of the biggest sleepers in the 2013 class. He doesn’t have a scholarship offer from the Cards, but the staff is definitely showing interest. UCLA and Florida have also recently expressed interest.

According to Brian Bosworth of BosWorthHoops.com, Embid has only been playing organized basketball for 18-months. The native of Cameroon moves very well for a man his size and already has developed into a solid shot-blocker. Offensively he has a long way to go but shows the early stages of a developing post game. Embid is a teammate of fellow Louisville recruit and native, D’Angelo Russell, at Montverde Academy.

He is definitly a project, but with his size and raw talent, Embid may be a guy worth seriously pursuing.
