The Courier-Journal has added veteran sports columnist Tim Sullivan to their roster. Sullivan will join the C-J staff after working for U-T San Diego for the past 10 years. In 2009 he was named one of the top columnists in the country by the Associated Press Sports Editors. Sullivan also worked for The Cincinnati Enquirer for 18 years as a sports columnist.
For a newspaper that appears to be going through some very tough times, adding Sullivan was one of the better moves the Courier could make, in my opinion. He’s a very well respected columnist on a national level. The only issue is that Louisville and Kentucky fans aren’t exactly familiar with him, due to the fact that he’s been on the west coast for the last decade.
Sullivan will join me today at 6:30 PM Inside The Press Box on 1450 The Sports Buzz to discuss his new gig. Tune-in or stream live at 1450TheSportsBuzz.com
The Courier-Journal will add Sullivan, but lose veteran sportswriter Jody Demling. It had been rumored for the last couple of weeks that Demling may be on his way out of the Courier-Journal. Demling confirmed these rumors via his Twitter account yesterday afternoon. Saturday will be his last day with the C-J. Demling will now work for FoxSports/Scout.com covering Louisville recruiting and horse racing. The current Louisville Scout.com site is ran by Mike Hughes of InsideTheVille.com, which will reportedly leave Scout to join the 24/7 network.
