Ryan White Having Second Thoughts About His Verbal Commitment To Louisville?

Trinity defensive back Ryan White is still listed as a verbal commitment for the Louisville football program; however his status has been shifted to what is a called a “soft-verbal” in the recruiting world.

White, a 4-star cornerback gave Charlie Strong a verbal pledge in late February after visiting for Louisville’s ‘Junior Day’ . At the time of his commitment, White had scholarship offers from Louisville, Kentucky, Michigan, Vanderbilt, Illinois, and Arkansas.

Although White hasn’t given a formal statement in regards to his commitment to Louisville, sources close to the Trinity program say he is considering re-opening his recruiting and is being stronly courted by Vanderbilt. The Commodores have been a doormat in the SEC for what seems like a century. However, coach James Franklin appears to be a fabulous salesman, considering Vandy has done quite well in recruiting since he’s taken the job. It makes zero sense to me why Ryan White, a hometown kid, would even consider Vanderbilt over Louisville.

At this point Rivals, Scout, and ESPN still list White as a commitment in Louisville’s 2013 class. However, I’ve always gone with the philosophy that nothing is official until the recruit ends up and campus and enrolled in school. White is one of the three senior prospects at Trinity High School that the Louisville coaching staff is currently pursuing. Wide receiver James Quick and defensive end Jason Hatcher, both 4-star recruits, have Louisville in their top three.
