According to SNY.tv, former Louisville guard Chris Smith will play with the New York Knicks in the 2012 NBA Summer League. The league is scheduled for July 13-22 in Las Vegas, NV and will be held at the Thomas & Mack Center and the COX Pavilion on the campus of UNLV.

Smith worked had a pre-draft workout with the Knicks, but didn’t hear his name called in last week’s draft. New York is the only NBA team that Smith worked out for. His older brother, J.R., spent half of last season with the Knicks, but will become a free agent after deciding not to exercise the opt-in clause in his contract. Smith stood to make $2.4 million had he opted in, but can do a multi-year deal (up to four years) with the Knicks starting at $2.8 million or at the midlevel exception.
